  • Clark St New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - SOHU
I'm not sure what to report because I'm not sure what this structure that runs the length of Clark St. is or why it's here.
  • 182 York St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Dwight

This detectable warning on the NW corner of Chapel and York has worn into a trip hazard. It is sheer and offers less slip resistance than the concrete it is set into.

Specifically, this violates 28 CFR 35.133 "(a) A public entity shall maintain in operable working condition those features of facilities and equipment that are required to be readily accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities by the Act or this part."

"Detectable warning" does not mean that a person should be able to detect the entrance to a roadway by sliding on the warning and falling.

  • 230 Edgewood Ave New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - Dwight
These may have been repaired since I toured our Public Schools, There are (or were) hazardous violations of Federal law on both sides of the entrance to the Montessori School On Edgewood.
  • 164 Sherman Ave New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - Edgewood

This woman is riding her wheelchair in the roadway to get from the entrance to St. Raphael's Hospital to the municipal parking lot across the street because the sidewalk - from a hospital to a municipal parking lot directly across the street - is not traversable to someone in a wheelchair.

Why was this allowed to happen? Disparate Impact is the inevitable result of discrimination against people with disabilities. When an urban municipality does not meet its obligations to provide access to people with disabilities, that discrimination will fall disproportionately on low-income communities and in America that means non-white communities.

This neighborhood, according to Datahaven is 22% White..

Where two or more similar site arrival points, such as bus stops, serve the same accessible entrance or entrances, both bus stops must be on accessible routes. In addition, the accessible routes must serve all of the accessible entrances on the site."

  • Edgewood Ave & Pendleton St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - Edgewood
The sidewalk at the northwest corner of the intersection between Edgewood and Pendleton is not ground down, forcing wheelchair users into the street and off the sidewalk while making their way into the park.

  • 79 Vista Ter New Haven, CT, 06515, USA - Westville
Leaf liter and a large rock need clearing to make this sidewalk ADA accessible.
  • Ella T Grasso Blvd New Haven, CT, 06519, USA - Hill
Its nickname is "Death Boulevard" because people keep getting killed due to its dangerous design. Local authorities need to stop letting state authorities cause the deaths of New Haveners in the name of moving drivers faster. January's hit-and-run killing is more blood on the hands of CTDOT, the board of alders, and the mayor.
  • 652 George St New Haven, Connecticut, 06511 - West River

This was reported in October of 2018 and has been ignored since. It is a Public Transportation Stop across the street from a hospital and it is surrounded by private health-care facilities..

It is in a neighborhood that, according to Datahaven, is 22% White.

  • 10-20 Lincoln St New Haven, CT, 06511, USA - East Rock

The sign post is for another inaccessible accessible parking space for New Haven Academy.

As mind-boggling as this is, the City of New Haven cut done the tree that caused the hazardous violation of Federal las at a 'handicapped' parking space across the street from a Public School and ignored the trip
    hazard that the tree caused.

This is very obviously an "alteration" that requires remediation of the violation.
